Re: [ptp-dev] Kepler M7 early testing: How to assemble an updated workbench

Thanks Beth. I assumed that this pre-release stuff was too raw to be supported by Install New Software. Figured I was going to have to manually configure things. Rookie mistake. Good to know.

Sorry Doug -- use the text of those links b.c.d. as update sites: with Help>Install New Software..., don't click on them.
My stupid email client made links out of some it shouldn't have (and did it incorrectly)

These are more correct:  (Note that b.c.d. are update sites, not meant to go to in your browser for most of them (for ptp we do have an index.html there though)
a. get parallel package e.g. from M6 http://eclipse.org/downloads/index-developer.php
b. update CDT from  http://download.eclipse.org/tools/cdt/builds/kepler/nightly/
c. update PTP from
http://download.eclipse.org/tools/ptp/builds/kepler/nightly/
d. update jGit from
http://download.eclipse.org/egit/updates-nightly

Beth –

I’m having trouble with some of the links. Am I missing something?

…item b – “update CDT…” takes me to ptp
…item d – “update jGit…” is a broken link (it’s also a broken link from http://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/ptp-dev/msg07422.html )
…attempt to get to cdt manually: http://download.eclipse.org/tools/cdt/builds/kepler/nightly/ is a broken link for me.

[ptp-dev] Kepler M7 early testing: How to assemble an updated workbench

If you want to test (please!) before the parallel package rebuild around Thursday of this week's Kepler M7 marathon,
Here's some pointers on how.
Translation: You don't have to be a seasoned PTP developer to help us test.

To assemble a workbench prior to our parallel package build, see this:
Previous post - "Kepler M6 EPP build - how to patch" at
http://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/ptp-dev/msg07422.html
Summary of the above with added info on CDT update is here:
     a. get parallel package e.g. from M6
http://eclipse.org/downloads/index-developer.php
     b. update CDT from
http://download.eclipse.org/tools/cdt/builds/kepler/nightly/
     c. update PTP from
http://download.eclipse.org/tools/ptp/builds/kepler/nightly/
     d. update jGit from
http://download.eclipse.org/egit/updates-nightly
I'm not exactly sure where a good RSE update site is..or what version they are putting in Kepler.  So what's in M6 should do for now
