Hi,
So far I know http:// is used also in other components of Eclipse, i.e.
update URL's
and some people also talking about https:// there. Is there a standard
protocol
implementation for http:// in the Eclipse plattform can be used from all
components ?

Have you ever thought to use the backend provided with slide API? At
least using jakarta httpclient would be a great gift compared to
implement all the http(s) stuff again.
Or are license issues preventing you to include libraries from apache?
