[platform-ui-dev] Formatting issues

We recently formatted the UI projects using the default Java formatting options but have since discovered some problems with the formatter (possibly https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=69917, possibly something more) that make doing this consistantly a problem. For the time being we recommend all UI committers NOT use the formatter when checking in code.
