You can enable watch/edit in either
the CVs preferences or the properties of a project. This will tag a file
as being edited and others who edit the file will be promted to warn them
that someone else is editing the file. However, it does not prevent editing
or committing so it may not be as strong a locking as you are loking for.

Is it possible to use the eclipse plugin
in a way the will enable locking of a source file while working on it in
a matter that will not enable editing by other users?
