I agree, GTK3 is still not as stable as GTK2. On RHEL 7.2 is is usable
inside IDE (4.6.3) for daily work of our lab, but with some glitches
here and there. Right now we have only one critical issue (on RHEL 7.2),

I would propose to create an umbrella bug with "GTK3 showstoppers" and
link all the "really bad" bugs to it. This way it will not get lost and

fixed because GTK3 is favored. I've now tried with the latest SWT 4.7
build with our software and GTK3 and opening the preferences took ages,
most likely because it contains 2 read-only comboboxes with all

and these are the kind of bugs that prevent us from using GTK3 at the
moment. Having to wait 10s to open a dialog is unacceptable - others
have reported >1min.
I have not tried with SWT 4.8 yet, because that does not support
machines any more that our users still use (e.g. CentOS/Redhat 6).
Maybe this thread can be used to collect the bugs that prevent users
from switching to GTK3 in the current state.
