Re: [platform-releng-dev] Heads up: org.eclipse.compare pom in needs updating

It allows a "clean" build that others can re-build  (or build against) without using scripts. (Such as ... this week ... was at the root of the problem described in  http://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/platform-releng-dev/msg21413.html).

I'm suggesting that we consider making that one of the criteria for a "successful" I-build ... While Mickael has suggested "he can just wait for the next I-build" ... my concern would be what to do if it happens again, the next I-build ... say for a different bundle? How many weeks would we go before getting a clean build that had the right commits "mapped" in the aggregator?

Plus, admit my bias that if people know they might cause an I-build re-spin if it is not correct, then they will pay more attention to it, install the releng tool, etc., otherwise, there's a tendency to "not care" and let the build fix things up and let the build find and report their errors instead of using care, and using the tools.

But ... I deliberately brought it up for discussion ... so glad to hear disagreement! :)

Can you explain why a rebuild helps? Since POM files are fixed automatically during the build, a rebuild with fixed POM files would produce exactly the same output as the original build, right? I agree we need to fix POM errors, but I'm not convinced they deserve a respin.
