The main reasons that come to mind:

1) Hudson user can't commit and tag
2) Hudson user can't deploy finished
builds to download
3) Hudson is often down, in a bad state,
or otherwise broken.

Maybe you can explain the connection
between Hudson and how that makes it easier to contribute patches?

Are there plans to use Hudson? What are the reasons why not using Hudson?

IMO, using Hudson would be a major improvement for people who want to contribute.
