Re: [platform-ant-dev] Build input submitted

The map files are used by the build scripts to figure out what versions of each plugin should be pulled down from CVS.  If you look in Eclipse CVS, in the org.eclipse.releng project, under the "maps" directory, you will see these map files.  Each team submits updates to these map files to indicate what versions to put in the build.  The releng project is versioned for each build, so we have a stable snapshot of exactly what went into each build.  This makes it easy to reproduce older builds on demand, and to see what plugins have changed from build to build.

Just out of curiosity - what's the "map" I keep hearing everyone talking
about?  I assume it has something to do with release management?  Since
eclipse's build/release process seems pretty good, I'd like to read more
about it, so if its documented anywhere, a pointer would be nice.  Thanks,

Matt
