I believe there are 2 proposals, Jared's (check box tree), and Darin's (seperate view for selected targets, etc). 
 
I think  'screen real estate is a premium'. Thats why I think the tree heirachy works, because you can expose the level of information you want at the moment.  Before working on my own AntView, I tried using  an existing dual pane ant view plugin. I felt this took up too much of my workspace, had wrapping issues, etc.  I think that adding the check box will also expand the width of the view. I guess the real issue is that the view honors the global preference for the 'open policy', but that the policy defaults to 'double-click'.  I would suggest that instead of using the global policy have the view have it's own policy preference that defaults to 'single-click'.
