[photran] Permanent Syntax Error

Hello,
 
first to say I am pretty new to Fortran
and also to Phortran Tool to. At the same time with learning Fortran itself
I have to dig in to an old project which was completely developed in Fortran,
and my big hope is to have a tool which will help me navigate the sources.

Unfortunately I still lack any succes
with phortran instalation . I followed the install instructions from the
webpage. Afterwards I deinstalled the all Java-relevant stuff and other
bits from the eclipse configuration to end up with pure 3.4.1 Platform
+ CDT + Photran set. Newer the less the Parser/Indexer resits to produce
an sensible output in the outline view. Even the empty file with 5 comment
lines provoke a Syntax error: Unexpected end of input (line7, column1)

With Fortran code I already have, usually
Syntax error occurs at a random place in the code with 'unexpected character'
comment where no obivous error is visible.
Am I doing something completely wrong
in the sense of configuring the workbench or ...???
