Re: [photran] very simple remote project?

Hi,

I have to compile & run a few Fortran files on a remote machine, which I can access by ssh. I don't care if the source files have to reside on my laptop or on the remote server.
Maybe you could simply use X11 tunneling over ssh to execute photran from the remote machine (after installing it privately) if you are already familiar with Photran. For example, if you use the open source client putty, in the prefs, there is in Connection/SSH/X11 a checkbox named "Enable X11 forwarding" which is not checked by default. Check it and try to launch e.g. xterm from your remote host. If your local host is Linux/Unix that should work like that. If your local host is Windows, you will first have to install en X11 server. Don't be afraid, there exists a free and very easy to install one : Xming ! No special config needed. You just launch Xming before putty and that should work

Cheers !
