Re: [pde-dev] 0 for Peter Nehrer on eclipse.pde by John Arthorne

I think that is a reasonable course of action.  It is important that Peter is added as a committer to support and evolve the DS annotation support in PDE.  However, that contribution has not been reviewed and merged as of yet.  In the new year we will restart the process.

I agree with John here.

It is really great news that Peter wants to contribute towards the DS component in PDE on a longer term, and I definitely look forward to those contributions!

On the other hand, this nomination came a bit too early. According to the
Eclipse Development Process's Committers and Contributors sectionand the Guidelines for Nominating and Electing a New Committerthe most important criteria is that the candidate has built trust among the current committers. In this case the nomination is based on a single Gerrit change which does not even have a code-review +1 from a committer, and there are no other commits over the past several years (there were two commits in 2008).

I would like to ask to withdraw this election and have Peter earn his commit rights like everyone else did before. If his big change makes it into the code base, and he follows the community for few weeks, we can restart the vote based on the trust we gained.

Peter\'s contribution and offer to support it are great news. I find it odd
to support a committer vote before he has had a single commit accepted on
the project though, so I\'m voting 0.
