i opened a bug in 2012 to integrate DS-annotations in the PDE:

I also implemented a generator plug-in:

https://github.com/wuetherich/ds-annotation-builder

Should not be such a big thing to add support for DS 1.3 and the metatype annotations...

I think you should check with the Equinox guys what their plan is
because as of today equinox.ds does NOT support 1.3 only the felix
version does.
