[pde-dev] API to modify bundles

I recall that some work was happening to create an API that would allow to programmatically modify the manifest of bundles contained in a workspace.
Could you give me some references to it and also indicate whether it supports rewriting of manifests. 

I'm asking because I have a large number of import / export to change the version of of for p2.
