Re: [orion-dev] Orion and OSGi

Hi Martin,

Indeed the Orion microservice framework is designed to be run stand-alone. I'm not sure if you're aware but there was a _javascript_ Microservice RFP written for the OSGi based on this work.
I'm in a crunch at the moment  but am putting some effort into packaging this stuff up separately in a github repo to enable some experimentation and will post a link soon (no later than end of next week).

To your specific questions...
1) Yes (as per above)
2) Yes - the base-line requirement an ES5 runtime so in addition to the browser it will also work for Node and Nashorn as well
3) No, although that is part of the intent. There was some earlier work done as part of e4 that was very much along those lines and might be worth a look -- http://git.eclipse.org/c/e4/org.eclipse.e4.languages.git/tree/bundles

[orion-dev] Orion and OSGi

Hello,

just another two very specific question regarding Orion and potential
OSGi integration:

1. Is it possible to run the Orion service runtime "stand alone" (just
as an OSGi framework)?
2. Is it feasible to run the Orion service runtime in Rhino / JavaSE
Script Engine?
3. Does something like a direct link between a host OSGi service
registry and (e.g. via Rhino) embedded Orion service registry exist?

Thanks a lot!

Martin
