Typically, a build script when it launches Equinox does so in an Eclipse SDK installation, so the workspace takes over the logging function. You'd find the .metadata/.log file most likely in the build user's $HOME/workspace directory (the Eclipse SDK default workspace) unless the build script uses the -data command-line arg to change the location.

I'll check -- where does the workspace log live in the build folders
hierarchy do you know?  I'm looking in the various .xml log files
that I find in /shared/orbit/logs/orbit-I
