Re: [mylyn-reviews-dev] EclipseCon call for paper

Sorry for the bad connection [1]. The point I was trying to make is that a talk about tools that exists, have source code, an update site and documentation is more likely to get accepted than a proposal that is less concrete [2]. That said, we have a bunch of good things coming and it's mostly a matter of getting them in shape.

I would propose to update the website and contributor wiki page along with the proposal to ensure there is something to look at. I also think it would help to emphasize the concrete value that the community can get out of the Mylyn Reviews project, e.g. start with what's there now and then talk about the vision and progress more than the structure of the project.

From my experience, it can be difficult to maintain a good flow with more than two speakers, particularly if the talk is only twenty minutes long so from my point of view it would make more sense to submit separate proposals, e.g. one for the framework and TBR and a separate one for R4E.

Just FYI, Benjamin Muskalla and I submitted a proposal for a talk about EGit/Gerrit/Hudson: https://www.eclipsecon.org/submissions/2011/view_talk.php?id=2068

+1 but I would go for a 40 minute talk so we can elaborate on each topic and have enough time to handle questions from the audience.

Steffen mentioned something about the ESE selection committee at the call today, but the call dropped towards the end. We should take that (Steffen can you summarize this on the mailing list please?) into consideration for the EclipseCon talk as well...

Hi,

i suggest to plan for a joint presentation and to elaborate the ESE 2010 submission + add the Gerrit part.

We could make 20mins Standard Talk:

5min: Steffen and me about the overall structure and the framework
5min: 1 from Ericsson about R4E
5min: 1 from SAP about Gerrit
5min: Kilian about TBR and the SCM integration

I can not make it to the Mylyn call today. If I get a +1 on the mailing list from all parties, I would submit an initial proposal this week.

Mario

PS: If we get accepted, we could share the one 50% discount.
