Re: [mylyn-pmc] Intent and MFT in Juno

We intentionally separated the projects for the Juno release. The Mylyn sub-projects that are rolled up in the release have a large overlap in terms of committers and are distributed using a common build and repository.

We haven't yet taken taken the time to setup an aggregation build to consume the new sub-sub projects and unfortunately haven't updated the website to properly reflect the top-level restructuring, yet. Once we have that in place and a few system tests for basic validation it would make sense to me to roll up everything on that common repository into a Juno+1 contribution.

One of the benefits of having separate contributions for Juno is that the new projects, Intent and MFT, get a little bit more visibility and count towards Juno's growth. I also think that it's good practice for incubating projects to go through the Eclipse release and release train process at least once. Aggregating all the necessary documentation and navigating the release process is a great way to learn the Eclipse way and reflect upon the principles of the EDP.

I think we discussed this earlier this year on a Mylyn call and at EclipseCon. I'll try to do a better job in the future to communicate important decisions of this kind on the pmc and dev lists.

I just noticed that most of Mylyn is doing a "roll up" release with Juno, with the exception of Intent and Model Focusing Tools.

Is this an oversight? i.e. should Intent and MFT be included in the roll up or are they separate by design?

I'm guessing that this is the result of the painfully deficient tools we have for capturing this information...
