Re: [mylyn-integrators] need some guidance with writing new connector

Mark,

Mylyn 3.0 is shipping on June 25th and includes substantial improvements to the api. You may want to work against the new and improved 3.0 api vs Mylyn 2.3.2. The api changes have mostly stabilized in HEAD so you can work against that (expect minor changes). As for guidance, the JIRA connector has been ported to the new API and Bugzilla is underway. Due to the api changes, the integrators guide is stale. We will be updating this and the porting guide to help those writing new connectors against Mylyn 3.0 and porting 2.x to 3.0. Consider adding yourself as a watch to the following wiki pages:

http://wiki.eclipse.org/Mylyn/Porting_Guide

For Mylyn 3.0 RC update sites and general status please see the following bug:

We have decided to write a Mylyn connector to support accessing tickets from an in-house ticket tracking system.

Can someone help minimize the startup time of this project by suggesting how is the best way to get started.

I have downloaded and looked at the Trac connector but I have also migrated to Eclipse 3.4RC1 and find that the Trac connector source checked out from CVS will not build with Eclipse3.4 and the latest Mylyn release for Eclipse 3.4.

Is it best to take the Trac plugins as a starting point, if so then is a lag in the source/version for Trac that will be addressed soon.??

Thank you anyone for any help you can give,
Mark.
