If there are point releases with security fixes only, that sounds great
to me.  I certainly would not expect anything other than fixes for
security issues, crasher bugs, and perhaps serious build problems.
Personally, I have no reason to run anything but the latest.

I am not sure what Tatsuzo means by 'is not stable'.  As I understand
it, 1.6.0 is the latest release and is believed to be the best version
to run.  I did not see any declaration of lack of stability as I would
expect with 1.5.80 or 1.6.0alpha1 etc.
