Yes, the grid is never shown in Linux/MacOS in neon and oxygen. For some time, it had been shown with a solid line, see https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=494321
After the "fix" in bug https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=493722
it was not shown any more (I first thought it was an installation problem on my side, therefore I did not insist on re-opening).

May I add that on macOS the grid doesn't show even if "Show Grid" is set to true (but "Snap to grid" does work, on the invisible grid). Is this a known bug?
