Subject: [cross-project-issues-dev] Eclipse SDK on the Windows 32-bit platform

The Eclipse Project PMC is looking for community feedback on the use of the Eclipse SDK on the Windows 32-bit platform. We believe that the Windows community has largely moved to the 64-bit platform, and this is particularly true for developers. In addition, after Java 8, Oracle is no longer providing 32-bit versions of their JRE, so running any Java application on Windows 32-bit is becoming increasingly difficult.

In an effort to drive this conversation, and realistically to reduce the number of platforms that we need to build and support, our current plan is to drop Windows 32-bit support for 2018-12 (4.10).

If you believe this would have a significant impact on your project and/or product plans, and could provide development resources to support Eclipse on Windows 32-bit, please let us know as soon as possible.

For related information, see https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=526620

Thanks,
The Eclipse Project PMC
