[m2t-dev] Re: Migration of GMT components

Gøran:

At many levels, I think it makes sense that all Eclipse-hosted template languages be found in M2T. My one concern is whether there will be confusion between MOFScript and Acceleo. Acceleo is an implementation of the OMG's MOF-models-to-text specification. Wasn't MOFScript an alternate proposal for this spec?

I would like to get the opinion the other M2T language component leads on this. I will not oppose the move, but I'd like to hear from the Xpand and Acceleo teams.

Gøran,

I've posted this to the M2T developer mailing list.  Paul's on vacation, so we'll need to wait for him to return.

Cheers,
Ed

All,

We are still waiting for some response to the e-mail regarding the MOFScript component.

As we understand, it has already been decided that the GMT project will be dissolved in the near future, and all the components that haven’t found a new project will have to move out of Eclipse, is this correct?

Is it an option to move MOFScript within Eclipse, or do we need to start preparing a new host for MOFScript?

Gøran,

As project lead, Paul would be better qualified to say whether M2T is an appropriate new home for MOFScript. If not, I'm guessing that EMFT (for which Ed is the lead) would be suitable as an alternative. Either way, it would be a shame to "lose" this project at Eclipse is there is indeed a community of users that depend on it...

Dear Kenn and Jean,

The contribution in question was intended as a MOFScript contribution, but as Jean already has informed us, the GMT project will be dissolved at some point.

Currently we haven't found any project for MOFScript.

If a move within Eclipse is possible the M2T project is probably the best fit, but we do not know the Eclipse position on this issue?

Anyway we will continue maintaining and developing the MOFScript component (somewhere) since we have several industrial end-users and are also using this in lecturing and research projects.

Best Regards,
Gøran and Jon

Given that the GMT project is being dissolved and I have not been informed yet as to the future of MOFScript, it's unclear where the project will end up and hence whom should approve this CQ...

Dear Goran,

I am receiving again some pressure from Eclipse
to find a migration path to MofScript.
Have you progressed?

Thanks,

Jean
