Regarding the teeth for symbolizing gears, I will ask our designer to try something in that direction, that's a good idea! I think there are a couple of Eclipse project logos with gears already, though (WTP comes to mind [1]).

The '.' was somehow implicit in my opinion, but he might be able to bring it into the logo without unbalancing it too much :)

The logos on the second page are a cool concept. What do you think of adding teeth for gears on the edges of the eclipse shape? The second one would also need a "." for the m2m.eclipse.org

All the other logo options look like variations on a barcode to me. Was that what they are supposed to look like?
