I put up my own publicly accessible test server (test.mosquitto.org) almost four days ago now. It's seen about 3000 connections to the broker from 60 IP address, in large part down to Nicholas Humfrey putting up a test page that interfaces to it: http://test-mosquitto.heroku.com/ I think those numbers look more impressive than they are (there are lots of Amazon Web Services IP addresses in the list from Nick's test) but it still shows there is a level of interest.
