[linuxtools-dev] 0.5 release (17 March) assistance needed

Hi,

With no more legal hurdles to clear, we are ready to release 0.5. We're
on deck for a release review on the 17th, meaning we have 2 weeks to
finish up testing and get everything in order.

Help is needed in the following areas:

1. write New & Noteworthy documentation

- this is especially critical for new components like LTTng, GCov,
  SystemTap dashboard, etc.
- Anithra, Francois, Xavier: I'm looking at you here :)
- details:
   http://wiki.eclipse.org/Linux_Tools_Project/Releng#New_and_Noteworthy
- please also add small blurbs for contributors (testers, bug reporters,
patch submitters, etc.) who helped; this goes at the top of new.html.

2. testing

- yes, we have automated JUnit tests, but user testing is a must
- please test with the latest nightly builds in our Galileo stream
on top of the Galileo SR2 dependencies (3.5.2 et al)
- our Galileo nightly build site:

http://download.eclipse.org/technology/linuxtools/updates-nightly

- file bugs as you find them, the more the merrier
- maintainers should fix what they can, ensuring that
TargetMilestone=0.5 on bugs you want to block 0.5 so that I know we're
  not finished yet
- bugs that are too big for this release should be worked on for 0.6

3. bug triage

- I went through bugs with patches that had been filed since our 0.4
release and set the iplog flag on those that didn't have it
- please ensure that bugs fixed for 0.5 have the TargetMilestone set to
0.5 and any that will not make 0.5 have TargetMilestone unset or set
  to 0.6 or higher

4. release review documentation

- I started on our 0.4 release review documentation:

linuxtools (website in CVS)/doc/LinuxTools0.5ReleaseReview.mediawiki
(the .html is generated from the .mediawiki with Mylyn's WikiText)

- I would appreciate committers taking a look and making any changes or
  additions

Thanks,

Andrew
