Indeed, that's something we have to start thinking about !
Your draft is an interesting one.
My thoughts :
* I like the base idea, the three words in a box and the three O's
being "toolified", words and O's being of different size each.
* Maybe the gears are too close from STP's ? What about rather three
workflow Actions-like (round ? square with large round edges ?) linked
together ? See http://www.eclipse.org/stp/images/logo_project.gif
* The color and font isn't very "eclipse-y". I'd say to go closer
from STP or Modeling's blue and color gradients. See

Maybe at some point we'll have funds for getting a real designer, but
not for now - though some friends are pros & could probably do something
good.

Eclipse sun that we could put in the lower right corner, but I haven't
found one yet without the text "Eclipse" on it.
