AW: [jwt-dev] Eclipse Summit Europe CFPDeadline Sep. 1

Hi Marc,

okay, so we'll both present JWT! That's great! Concerning your storyline: I
fully agree and am looking forward to the demo of SOA integration with the
SCA editor as well as some videos describing the aspects.
I changed the abstract accordingly to your comments. Shall we change the
title, too, in order to show that we are also concerned about SOA? E.g. not
only say "Managing Process and Workflow with JWT", but something like
"Managing Workflows and Service Orchestration with JWT" (or something else)?

Concerning the new release: you said you would plan it for the end of
September? So, shall we consider September 30th? Release name will probably
be version 0.5, as long as we are not planning to graduate from incubation
phase (which would require us to say whether we plan to be a top-level
project or be integrated in another project). I hope your meeting in
Grenoble with the STP-guys shows some results for this discussion.
Probably all our tools and plugins should have the version number 0.5,
meaning the transformations, the monitoring tools and all WE-plugins in
order to show that they all come with the same metamodel. As soon as the
metamodel changes again we need to adapt the other plugins too, so the same
version number shows that they work together.
Concerning what goes in: that depends on what we will finish by that time:
I'd love to see the aspects there, of course the developed transformations
as well as the monitoring-base-plugin. The different views with new figures
for e.g. UML Activity diagrams should also be integrated in this relase IMO.
I hope that we can finalize a first version of the article for an Eclipse
magazine at the same date (end of September), since I will be away the whole
October...

Best regards,

Florian

Hi Florian

You're right, we better hurry !

I'll be at the summit and I'm willing to help preparing and showing the
presentation. We'll see whether Mickael will be able to be there as well.

I like the proposed storyline, which goes through every steps of using JWT.
"News and Noteworthy talks" have to talk about new features, and I think we
got two other big ones (which we previewed last year) : SOA integration
(here "SOA" will be the buzzword !!), and customizing JWT's model and
editors. Actually, I wonder whether we should make the SOA story even
bigger... Because everything we've done can be pictured in this light, it
will tie us closer to STP, and it will attract the biggest audience... Well
let's start first ;)

The abstract itself is great, please just replace "SOA" by "and within
Service Oriented Architectures" at the end.

I've slightly enriched the storyline, as a basis for the presentation :

    * Model-driven development starting with the Eclipse BPMN-editor,
    * Transforming a BPMN-model into JWT, (Comment: Since we only have
the transformation the other way round for the moment, we won't be
      able to present these parts)
    * Enriching the JWT-model with technical details,
    * Simulating the JWT-model,
    * Generating XPDL code and deploying it on an engine such as Bonita.
    * Additionally, we describe the various components that have been
developed or are currently developed in the context of JWT:
    * e.g. Adapting JWT for custom needs by extending its metamodel and
editor, orchestration with an SOA platform such as SCOrWare,
integration with the SOA Tools Project through the SCA Editor and
additional transformations such as JWT 2 STP-IM, Monitoring a
      workflow execution...

We can write the outline of such a powerpoint presentation on the basis of
this storyline.
I almost (!) have a wink demo for SOA integration, I can do one for aspects
(which would be useful for the tutorial as well).
We should also fix a date and a name (0.5) for the new release, and what
goes in (aspects have to be merged in the trunk), and a date for the
article.

Regards,
Marc
