This a heads up about the state of the branches in our main git repository.

Once Jetty 9.1 has been released, this is what is going to happen.

Branch name : role
master : jetty 9.x (which will be at jetty 9.1.1) - active development branch of current version of jetty.
release-9 : release branch for jetty 9.x
jetty-8 :  jetty 8.x
release-8 : release branch for jetty 8.x
jetty-7 :  jetty 7.x 
release-7 : release branch for jetty 7.x

Tasks:
The jetty-9.1 branch will be merged into master.
The jetty-9.1 branch will be deleted.
The release-9.1 branch will be merged into release-9.
The release-9.1 branch will be deleted.
Decide on end of life date for jetty-7.
Cleanup old/inactive branches.

Future:
Should there be a need for another 9.0.x release, a new branch will be created from the last 9.0.x tag.
