Re: [imp-dev] Proposed reorg of IMP SVN repository structure
|
Hi All,
Jurgen really sounds like the voice
of experience on this. I like Bob's suggestion, which has a good
correspondence to my view of the repository, but I have to admit that my
view is a very simple and inexperienced one. Jurgen also did us the
favor, when we first moved onto SVN, of creating a team project set for
the new repository. Using that was very simple and really seemed
to allow you to ignore how the repository was organized (which I think
is the ideal unless you specifically have to work on the repository for
some reason). If I hadn't misplaced that team project set I might
have been less in favor of Bob's suggestion originally. This morning
I created my own team project set, which was easy to do using the file
export function. And I was able to apply it easily using the file
import function. Now if I can remember where I saved the file, I
should be set for some time.
Bob is still right that doing an initial
check out would be simpler under his proposed organization. With
the proper use of team project sets, though, perhaps only one person would
have to go through that process--for purposes of creating a team project
set. And most other people would not have to visit the repository
at all.
Regards,
Stan
P. S. In case it may be of some
use, here is the file. To use, save it somewhere, then from a workspace
use File -> Import -> Team -> Team Project Set. (Please
be advised, though--this file comes with no warranties!)
P. P. S. Did we ever put a team
project set on the web site?
