Re: [iam-dev] re: preview of iam refactor builder

You should be able to use the pde-based build (there are some minor glitches due to recent changes to the number of plug-ins -new builder, workspace search...-, but nothing serious).

Once it is stable, we will add information on the iam wiki, but if you want to get started before that, just let us know and we'll help you.

cool, so I'm now using this as my primary dev environment and am
enlisting other developers to move to this as well for user feedback.
there are some issues, but they look more like maven embedder issues.
hopefully i'll get some time to set up an environment for building
IAM. Is the process for building IAM stable or in flux?

Ooops, sorry Rob! I forgot about that "minor" step.

You need to install latest packaging of the embedder from q4e-dev update
site:
http://q4e.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/updatesite-dev/

You will also need Eclipse 3.4. To get all the new features you'll also need
WTP (as usual), Buckminster (materialize dependencies) and Subversive
(checkout maven projects from SVN).

I hope we can soon get rid of q4e's update site, but I've been lacking the time to process the embedder through Eclipse IP (next week looks better, but
who knows...)

As you might know, q4e development has switched to the Eclipse foundation
(http://www.eclipse.org/iam) .
The issue has been addressed on the trunk there. There is a preview build
available for testing at
http://209.20.80.84/iam/iam-refactor-builder.zip (unzip and copy to your
Eclipse 3.4 dropins folder).

This didn't work for me. Feature details show nothing for IAM.
Plugin details shows:
providerName | pluginName | 0.9.0.200901282024 |
org.eclipse.iam.help
Eclipse.org | Eclipse IAM Pom Model...| 0.9.0.200901282024 |
org.eclipse.iam.pom.model
Eclipse.org | Eclipse IAM Pom Editor... | 0.9.0.200901282024 |
org.eclipse.iam.pom.model.edit

And, yes, if I should have q4e installed first, then I need explicit
instructions.. :-)
