Ling Yao, Intel
Michelle Healey, Computer Associates
Jim Saliba, Computer Associates
Jennifer Clemente, IBM
Melanie Woods, Scapa Technologies

2. Eclipse Marketing & PR meeting update
Events, article opportunities etc. discussed in detail below.

3. Contact Reports / Call for Papers
No additional contact reports received.

4. Events
An events calendar has been requested by the TPTP planning group, as
well as a plan of action for events.
ACTION: All to indicate events for inclusion on the TPTP events calendar
ACTION: Melanie to put together an events calendar for distribution to
the group

Specific events discussed (in date order):
- Java Pro Conference, Boston, 17-19 October 2004
http://www.ftponline.com/conferences/javaprolive/
It was agreed that it is too late to submit a paper for this event. Keep
this event on the TPTP events calendar for assessment next year.

- OOPSLA, Vancouver, October 24-28, 2004
http://www.oopsla.org/2004/ShowPage.do?id=Home
Call for technical papers for this conference is also closed, however,
there is an Eclipse Technology Exchange evening event where posters from
Eclipse projects can still be submitted. Scapa Technologies has
presented at a similar technical exchange event at the ICSE conference
held in Edinburgh earlier this year. Posters from this exchange can be
made available to anyone who might be interested to present at this
exchange.
ACTION: Melanie to email hyades-dev mailing list to find out if anyone
from the project is interested in participating at the Eclipse
technology exchange at OOPSLA.

- Software Test & Performance Conference, December 7-9, 2004
http://www.bzmedia.com/stpcon/
The call for papers has closed for this conference. Ian has spoken to
his contact at BZMedia and there is encouragement for this group to
propose an article for inclusion in the Software Test & Performance
Magazine. Proposals should be sent to BZMedia Editorial Director, Alan
Zeichick for consideration for the December edition which would be
promoted at their December conference. It was felt that an introductory
article to the project would work best in this instance. It was also
noted that the deadline might be very short on this.
ACTION: Melanie to work with Mike Norman to propose an article to Alan
Zeichick

- ObjectWeb Conference in Lyon, France, 17-19 January 2005
http://wiki.objectweb.org/ObjectWebCon05/Wiki.jsp?page=CallForProposals
Deadline for papers is September 15th, 2004. Suggestion that Scapa
could present this paper, due to knowledge of the
specific technology area (JOnAS monitoring) and also due to proximity to
conference location.
ACTION: Melanie to propose paper for this conference

- LinuxWorld Conference and Expo, Boston, 14-17 February 2005
http://www.linuxworldexpo.com/live/12/events/12BOS05A/
The call for papers deadline is tomorrow, 10th September, 2004. Intel,
IBM and CA are all platinum sponsors of this event. Discussion as to
whether it might be possible to ask the organisers to extend this
deadline, given our participation at LinuxWorld in August this year.
ACTION: Ling to find out if there is any flexibility on the call for
papers deadline and feed this information back to the group

- EclipseCon, Burlingame, February 23–March 3, 2005
http://www.eclipse.org
Call for participation has been announced and deadline for submissions
is October 1st. Encouragement from Ian for as many submissions as
possible, from individual company members as well as projects. It was
felt that it is unlikely that product pitches will be considered for
presentations as this is a technical conference. This type of promotion
can be done through press announcements at the conference.
ACTION: All to work with their teams to come up with areas of the TPTP
project that we could promote at EclipseCon

5. PR
In addition to the opportunity for an article placement at Software Test
and Performance Magazine, the group discussed the possibility of
distributing a 'momentum' news release in the October timeframe,
encompassing information regarding the 3.1 release and also new member
information. The suggestion from Ian was that we aim for a product news
story in the December timeframe to coincide with the Software Test &
Performance conference, and that our 'momentum' news becomes part of a
wider Eclipse 'momentum' press release which is targeted for the end of
September. Ian requested assistance for Eclipse and the Eclipse PR
agency to target the right test & performance audiences (inc. editors
and analyst groups). Ian also encouraged the group to think of
interesting news ideas for the December release and any future press
releases.
ACTION: All to think about of interesting ways to target specific test &
performance audience groups, e.g. open source project initiatives etc.
ACTION: All to help the Eclipse and PR agency to target editors and
analysts with the Eclipse 'momentum' release

6. Website
Some immediate website updates are being discussed with Susan Iwai (IBM
Research). These include ensuring that old and new mailing list are
posted together on the Eclipse website, and that old 'Hyades-related'
text is moved from the Eclipse Tools Project page.
Eclipse is in the process of transitioning the eclipse.org website away
from an IBM hosted site to a new, Eclipse-owned
infrastructure. The timeline on this is not clear.
Future website updates are requested from all marketing group
participants. Ling suggested that we consider, in the longer-term,
introducing short demonstrations to the website, and maybe starting out
with some product graphics.
ACTION: Melanie to work with Susan Iwai on the immediate website updates
ACTION: ALL to bring ideas to the group for future website improvements

7. AOB
Discussion regarding creating a CVS library for presentation slides,
posters and other marketing materials to facilitate quick action on call
for papers etc. The posters already prepared for past events such as the
Eclipse technology exchanges could be stored here.
ACTION: Melanie to contact Mike Milinkovich and look into setting up
marketing materials repository on CVS.

N.B. The group is constituted in the same way as other TPTP development
groups, and is respectful of Eclipse rules and regulations for meetings
between Eclipse members. Also, with regard to operational activities
covered by IP policy and anti-trust regulations, it is the duty of the
lead committer to make group participants aware of these regulations.
The group does not have a lead committer at this stage, however,
participants can find details on these regulations at:
http://www.eclipse.org/org/documents/main.html

Next meeting – proposed for next Thursday, September 16th, 2004 at 5pm
BST / 6pm CET / 12pm EDT / 9am PDT. Call-in details to be confirmed.
