[higgins-dev] RE: Taxonomy of Terms for this Interop -- 24-hour feedback requested (if any)
|
Hi Mike,
Speaking for Higgins, we “absolutely can’t live with”
these terms. It just needs a bit more work. Higgins
has spent more effort than any other project trying to be interoperable with
CardSpace. We really do appreciate the need for precision. We need to have
terms that we can live with until at least April/RSA. The good news is that there
is a Higgins F2F meeting next week
and we’ll use some of that time to respond to this document. In other
words, we need another week.
However, to be
helpful and to give folks a flavor of what some of the might be, I’ve attached
a quick edit. By next week we’ll have a further update. As you can see
there are new terms like Extensible M-Card (a kind of ISIP-M-Card with an
agreed upon extension point element so selectors (like CardSpace) will not
choke on additional XML elements, but instead preserve/round-trip them), as
well as ISIP-M-Card, ISIP-P-Card, etc.
I’ll take
a moment here to mention to others who may not be aware that some progress is
being made between Higgins, Microsoft,
Pam and others to try to agree to common definitions of Information Card vs.
I-Card, “managed”, “personal”, etc. The Information Card vs. I-Card wikipedia pages are where
some of this is going on. These pages are still very rough and not up to
wikipedia standards. But we’ll get there.

Subject: Taxonomy of Terms for
this Interop -- 24-hour feedback requested (if any)
Importance: High
As reviewed on the call yesterday, Pamela and I developed a
taxonomy of terms and relationships between the terms that will be used in the
online materials for this Interop. These will be used pervasively
throughout the working Interop pages. Construction of these pages will
begin Wednesday evening.
If you absolutely can't live with any of these terms or feel
that they should be clarified in some way please suggest specific edits to the
taxonomy within the next 24 hours. Otherwise we'll be using them as-is.
Thanks!
