Re: [epp-dev] Luna M3 packages

I’ve just tested the Eclipse Scout Luna M3 Mac EPP packages with an old MacBook with OSX 10.6.8. All quick tests were running successfully, I didn’t encounter any problems. Unfortunately, I cannot test the EPP packages with the latest OSX 10.9.

Cheers,

Ken

I started to migrate the build to Maven, based on the work from Igor and Thanh. It's probably the best way to move forward and to sign the Mac executables in our build. The build job at [1] builds a single EPP package as an example and I would be thankful if someone with a Mac could download and test the result.

If it is working I'd work on integrating the remaining packages tomorrow.

IMO it doesn't make sense to make the old build public. We had to exclude at least the Modeling package and all Mac OSX packages... I'd suggest to wait with a decision until we have a better picture about the state of the Mac builds.

The best approach is to redistribute the 1.7 JRE. But I know where that discussion leads.

Well, yes, interesting times... thanks for pointing us to this bug report. Just by cross-reading it my thoughts are (a) that is is nearly impossible to make Eclipse working on a Mac, and (b) we should drop Mac support... :(

I'm kidding, but only partially. I'm not overly optimistic that we can fix this in time for M3.

Markus

There were changes made to the "platform binary" in M3 that's downloadable as a zip file from our Eclipse specific site. See bug 419092.

The bug not only documents how our Info.plist was incorrect (only for "platform binary distribution") but also all the various hoops users had to jump through to get things to work with the Mac, at various levels of OSX and Java.

Interesting times ...

I am on OSX 10.9 and don't have any problems starting Eclipse. My normal
IDE is based on 4.4M3 "SDK" but I just tried 4.3.1 "Standard" and it
started without any problems too.

There is a minor problem with OSX asking to install java when you
double-click on Eclipse icon in Finder, but I don't believe this
is specific to Eclipse and everything works just fine if I run the same
executable from command line (like I always do anyways).
