Re: [epp-dev] migrate EPP to Git

And another update on this topic.

If you've been watching https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=346616 you could see my progress over the last days. My main goal was to recreate the status quo that we had before the migration which is now the case. The old build runs without too many changes and there are only a few open items, none of them is really serious.

* CVS is now read-only!
* The new Git repositories can be found here: http://git.eclipse.org/c/epp with the most important one being the packages repository: http://git.eclipse.org/c/epp/org.eclipse.epp.packages.git
* If you have any questions about Git, http://wiki.eclipse.org/Git is a good place to start. If there are any EPP related questions, feel free to ask on the mailing list

Regards,
Markus

A short update...

Because I didn't see any objections I am planning to migrate all EPP bits and bytes from CVS to Git this week. That gives me some time to work on build changes next week. If everything works as expected I'd like to have this finished in time before the next Juno milestone.

Thanks,
Markus

Hi all,

after Indigo SR2 it is the best time to start working on some important changes, one of them is the migration from CVS to Git that I didn't want to start before SR2 is done. On the other hand I'd like this to migration to be finished before the next Juno milestone, which includes also the changes in the build.

In an attachment of BugĀ 346616 - "move EPP from CVS to git" I am listing all projects that are currently in CVS, many of them can be archived and I want to end up with only two or three Git repositories, one of them containing everything that is required for the packages itself, and then one or two other repositories for the remaining things.

Please comment on the bug and tell me if this migration strategy makes sense for you or if you see any problems.

Thanks,
Markus
