[epf-dev] Contributions requested for next EPF release (scheduled for June 1, 2012) - to be discussed at this Thurs Feb 16 EPF meeting 8am PST

Dear EPF community,

I am sending this email to encourage you to contribute to the next EPF release.  There are many areas where you can contribute,
so in order to help you think about this, I have suggested some ideas below:

1. EPF Composer Features

If you are an eclipse developer and would like to contribute some code improvements to RMC, here is one idea:

Rich text editor improvements.  The current rich text editor is fairly basic.  Some improvements could be:
- improved table handling (add/delete rows/columns/cells, merge cells, change borders)
- color font...some others are: 1) Improved list handling (bullet/numbered list, hierarchy), 2) better image handling (scaling to preserve aspect ratio)

2. Examples

a. Configurations and plug-ins - Examples of configurations and plug-ins built using EPF composer would be very welcome as contributions.
Extensions to the practices library would be great to see.

b. BIRT reporting.
If IBM included the BIRT reporting feature (currently only in RMC), are there volunteers who would be willing to build examples?

c. Clever uses/extensions of EPF
- For example, embedding of google gadgets onto EPF composer pages to include RSS Feeds or calendars into published configurations.

3. Testing

a. Volunteers to test hosting of published websites from EPF Composer on different webservers.

4. Content

Any and all content contributions are welcome.
Some ideas that may interest contributors:
- governance processes - how to manage multiple projects
- operations - practices for ongoing operation of software systems
- product management
- enterprise architecture
- kanban
- vendor management
- practices to flesh out CMMi, ITIL, PMBOK, SPICE, PRINCE, or other standards coverage ...

5. Experience stories

It would be great to post experience reports using EPF composer and the Practices library.
How are you using it?  What benefits resulted?

6. Enablement

Learning to use EPF composer, and authoring/extending practices can be challenging.
Some ideas:
- the EPF course could be expanded on
- could create a set of community webpages like this one for RMC, but instead dedicated to EPF and hosted on Eclipse

7. Other ideas

If you have other ideas for how you can contribute, please let us know and let's discuss!
The planning meeting will be this Thurs Feb 16 at 8am PST.
