I was actually thinking about the dialog form. I find the git staging view a
bit messy (sorry) to use.

There's where I was going, yes.

That works. But if you have not set push.default, git push itself will
display an error to use --set-upstream even if you only have one remote. I'm
not saying that's the best way to handle it, but it is what many users are
expecting.
