The Eclipse Foundation requested [1] that all Eclipse projects licensed under EPL-1.0I [2] should relicense to EPL-2.0 [3]. Find the EPL-2.0 FAQ here [4]. Implementing this means that we need to change the LICENSE file and all license headers [5].

I propose that we implement this license change with the next minor EGit release 5.1.
I think it's a bit too late to squeeze this into the upcoming 5.0 release.

Please provide feedback until June 4.

I agree with switching to EPL-2.0.

We _are_ already using EPL-2.0 for EGit. The shared license feature already uses version “0.0.0” for the version, and thus installing EGit presents the user with EPL 2.0.

ok, didn't notice that

JGit, however, is still packaged with EGit 1.0. See https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=532265

you meant EPL 1.0
JGit itself is licensed under EDL-1.0

The about.html files will also need to be updated.

What about egit-github?

I think we should update it together with egit

If it’s only changing the headers, about.html, and LICENSE files, can’t we do that for 5.0? Would be more fitting… but I’m also OK with doing this for 5.1.

@Wayne:
regarding these issues that we present EPL-2.0 to the user installing EGit but source code still says EPL-1.0
I propose we fix this right away and move to EPL-2.0 already for 5.0 to be shipped with Photon.
Do we need to regenerate the IP logs in that case ?
