Greetings folks. It's an exciting, fun-filled week for reviews.
But, before I get into that, I want to direct your attention to the
new Project Management Infrastructure that we're working on. We have
a test instance available [0] that we're updating regularly with new
functionality. I invite you give it a try. Note that you can change
any information you'd like, but keep in mind that this is a test
instance and we may need to reset it periodically. Note also, that
while have bootstrapped this system with data from our existing
databases, we do not keep these systems synchronized (so information
that you enter in it will not be reflected in the current system,
nor will changes in the current system be immediately reflected in
the new system). After Juno, the old system will be retired and
we'll use this new one as we move forward.
I am particularly excited about the support for documenting
releases. I think that it already makes capturing and disseminating
release information easy and intuitive. This will be a great value
for both project members and the community. We're working hard to
make the new system as intuitive and easy to use as possible.
Now... onto the reviews. I'll start with two graduations.
I'm excited to announce the 1.0 release and graduation of BPEL
Designer [1] and Gyrex [2]. BPEL Designer provides
tools for authoring, editing, deploying, testing and debugging of
WS-BPEL 2.0 processes. Gyrex provides a platform on top of the
Equinox OSGi framework to allow seamless and pain-free operation of
Equinox server clusters. It also provides frameworks and concepts
for developing, deploying and scaling applications on top of Gyrex
based clouds. With graduation, Gyrex will move from its home in the
Technology [3] top-level project to the RT [4] top-level project.
Next up, we have releases from three mature projects. Extended
Editing Framework (EEF) [5] 1.1.0 provides advanced editing
components for the properties of EMF elements and a default
generation based on standard metamodels using these components. AspectJ
[6] 1.7 is a seamless extension to Java that adds
the ability to
capture cross-cutting concerns. AspectJ Development Tools [7]
2.2.0 provides Eclipse platform based tool support for
aspect-oriented software development with AspectJ.
Finally, we have one project termination. The Runtime Analysis
Tools (RAT) [8] project never really got started, so there's
not very much to say here, unfortunately.
Thanks,
Wayne
P.S. The Git migration [9] is going well. If your project is still
using CVS, you need to have a plan in place to migrate well in
advance of the December 21/2012 deadline!
