glad that you are working on the project. So 'welcome' on the eclipse 
side :)

Regarding python I am not sure for myself here. 2.7 is in beta state and 
did not evolve over a whole year. Regarding stability I would rather go 
for a final release, which would be 2.5.4 so far.

But I guess we should check this with the Jython devs.
