Would you mind doing the same for all linux downloads (including
source)? I just tried with the 2.1 drop and I got ~10MB difference
between zip and tar.gz (sourceIncluded.zip). Just tar.gz this file
will give you 5MB...
From my debian repository:
44063648 29. Mär 03:12 upstream/eclipse-sourceBuild-srcIncluded-2.1.zip
39751624 12. Mai 18:29 ../eclipse_2.1.orig.tar.gz
35013446 29. Jun 06:56 ../upstream.tar.gz
First is the normal drop, second just 'tar -czf' the upstream/
subdir and third is first unziping in a subdir and then
tar.gz'iping the resulting dir.
And BTW: winzip can extract tar.gz just fine, too...
