I'm pleased to announce that this alternative import framework (+JDT and PDE extensions) has been contributed to the org.eclipse.e4.ui repository, see http://git.eclipse.org/c/e4/org.eclipse.e4.ui.git/commit/?id=4a928d95a471182a58c4a862f62d09e2532b55b9
Thanks a lot to Lars and Dani for their support.
