I’ve vacillated on this issue, but I’m in favour of it.  It shouldn’t matter once bug 419888 is fixed.

Oops that was unclear:

+1 on removing MInputPart.

-1 on adding inputSpec.

Use persistentState with a key “input”.  We could define a Well-Known key for “input” if that’s useful.
