Mm, I assumed Thomas's workspace didn't have workbench.xmi in his workspace's .metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.e4.workbench/ folder but you're right, if that file exists then it'll load the model from that file instead of loading it fresh as if it was starting on a new workspace.
