RE: [dsdp-tcf-dev] TCF Copyright Year Updates
|
Hi Eugene,
I actually found 1 problem with the releng tool as it is
today:
For SVN, it will update ALL file's copyright headers to
2010 even if it was not changed in 2010. Looks like it does not detect the year
of the last SVN revision. I tried working around this by configuring SVN to
checkout with the last revision date, such that the local modified-timestamp
matches the date when it was committed, but it did not help.
I also asked on the cross-project mailing list but got no
response:
To me, it looks like the relengtool needs to be improved
such that an additional UI option is added to the Preference page, which
instructs it to use the local last-modified-date as the year to use for filling
in the copyright year. I checked bugzilla, and such a request does not exist
yet.
I'm not exactly sure how to proceed at this point. One
option might be checking out from SVN and having the local timestamp set; then,
use UNIX find / rm to delete all files not changed in 2010; then, run the
coprythigts tool. Then, repeat the same for 2009 files with the copyrights tool
fixed specified to 2009.
Other ideas are welcome.
Thanks,

Hi Martin,
I will run relneg tool tomorrow, if nobody will express
concerns by then.
Thanks,
Eugene
Hi
all,
I would like to take
the opportunity of the Helios release to perform an update of the
"Copyright-to-year" in all the copyright headers in TCF.
I have done an
initial check, and found that LOTS of files need updating from 2009 to 2010. The
Eclipse (releng.tools) Copyrights tool works pretty well for this by
now.
Does anybody have a
concern against this (e.g. lots of local files and want to avoid
merging)?
Can anybody
volunteer to perform the copyright updates, at least on one component of
yours?
It's not rocket
sience, but it does require reviewing the changes made by the
tool.
Thanks,
