RE: [dsdp-mtj-dev] Sun WTK 3.0 Support and EclipseME Conversion

Hi craig,

About the launch modes, this is good discussion that we can have. Are
you talking about UEI sdks that might not support all three modes or
other java sdks?

:)

Subject: [dsdp-mtj-dev] Sun WTK 3.0 Support and EclipseME Conversion

Hello all,

An EclipseME user reported that the new Sun Wireless Toolkit Early
Access 3.0 release was not launchable from EclipseME/MTJ. I wrote up
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=251325 to track the
problem. In addition, I checked in an updated UEI device properties
file that addresses the issue. As I mentioned in the bug report, this
addresses the initial issue with launching the new WTK release. What is
not addressed by this bug is the case that there are really three modes
in which users might want to launch:

- JAD
- Midlet Suite Project
- Individual midlet

We should put a bit of thought into a coherent strategy for allowing and
presenting these different options as they make sense. Some emulators
will not allow for all of these launch modes and that should probably be
made clear as well.

In addition, I've created a new blog entry on the EclipseME web site
with instructions for users that want to convert from EclipseME to MTJ.

That can be found at
http://eclipseme.org/blog/2008/10/19/converting-from-eclipseme-to-mobile
-tools-for-java/

Thanks,
Craig
