[corona-dev] Should prefs files be committed to CVS?

I noticed that in project org.eclipse.project.container.explorer that org.eclipse.jdt.core.prefs and org.eclipse.jdt.ui.prefs have been committed to CVS.  What are these files and why are they in CVS?  Are they an individual preference files or are they for the team?
