Re: [cdt-dev] CDT call tomorrow

Well, we were marginally successful. The sound quality on hangouts is pretty bad. Hopefully the new system will be in place for next month.

The big topic is that RC1 for CDT 9.4 is November 13’th. That’s less than 2 weeks away. We should be treating this as a feature freeze so it’s time to start wrapping up the big items. CDT 9.5 is only six months away and I think we’ll need that time to fine tune and put some polish on Core Build and all its extensions. So I’ll be focusing mainly on the APIs and making sure everything we’re planning can happen with few additions there.

As I mentioned in my Wrap Up blog, https://cdtdoug.ca/eclipsecon-europe-2017-quick-wrap-up/, EclipseCon was really good. The community is gathering around Core Build better than I had hoped so I’m excited about the direction we’re headed. Interesting things happening for the longer term as well with the Language Server Protocol and Jonah’s work with the Debug Server Protocol. That should give us the flexibility to move forward wherever that takes us. We had a good presentation on Theia and Che. We at QNX are investing a little on Theia to see if it’s a direction for us long term. But, frankly, the Eclipse IDE is still going strong and it was great to see what all the different embedded tools vendors are doing with the rich platform it provides with things like Xtext and the modeling frameworks.

Happy to answer questions on the dev list here.

Cheers,

Doug

I tried Jitsi, the SIP client, but I don’t know how it works. Let’s see if I can get a Hangout going.

I’m not able to dial in, is anyone else having any luck. Almost looks like the toll-free number has been disconnected already.

This is a wiki page on the system we use (for now, it’s going to change soon). There are desktop clients that may or may not work for you.

Hope that helps.

Hi Doug,

Is there a local toll/toll-free number for Malaysia that I can use?

Reminder we moved the calls to Wednesday at 11 a.m. Ottawa time. Europe changed time I think so I hope we don’t lose anyone.
