one last point is that both the full and fast indexers have enough limitations
as to what they store in the index in 3.1.X that this is likely to overshadow
any differences between them if search coverage is your priority.

if at all possible, moving to CDT 4.0 (where the fast indexer is the
default) would be the best move.
