In the early years of the CDT group, at the first meeting(CDT-1.0) with the partners:
Ideas for the CDT were bounced around basically versatility, flexibility ...  CDT was seen as a
framework or a cross-road where other tools vendor and third parties can integrate/customize.

So QnX specific plugins customizing the CDT were call QDE, and
someone came up with the GNU specific plugins as .... the GNUDE !!!

Probably from too much cola/sugar ...
